Team

Semil Choksi, PhD

PI

Semil is interested in how stem cells make and execute differentiation decisions and in identifying the molecular mechanisms that drive these cell fate choices. Outside of the lab, he’s likely exploring hiking trails, trying new pizza places, or watching basketball (go Dubs!).

Annelise Prince

Junior Specialist

Annelise is interested in how caspases regulate multiciliated cell differentiation. She grew up in Southern California and earned her B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley, with an emphasis in Cell Biology, Development, and Physiology. Outside the lab, Annelise enjoys attending concerts, crocheting, hiking around the Bay Area, and spending time with her two cats, Lilo and Stitch.

Max Hammer

DSCB/MSTP
Grad Student

Max is an MD-PhD student at UCSF interested in pediatric medicine and organ development. In the lab, he studies how translation initiation machinery regulates multiciliated cell differentiation. Originally from Michigan, Max earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan before spending several years in Scotland studying Philosophy of Consciousness and Bioinformatics. Outside the lab, he enjoys rock climbing, snowboarding, and surfing – making California an ideal home base. He also has an adorable pitbull named Matilda, so be sure to ask how she’s doing if you see him on campus!

Ayush Srivastava, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Trisha Macrae, MD, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Trisha is a Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellow. She did her PhD work with Dr. Miguel Ramalho-Santos (first at UCSF, then at the University of Toronto). She is curious about cell fate decisions and is investigating the transcriptional regulatory networks guiding multiciliated cell differentiation. On weekends, Trisha reads fiction, finds creative ways to cook with cumin, and runs.

Kaya

Lab Assistant

Kaya takes a quiet approach to lab life, with a strong focus on treats and naps. In her free time, she enjoys eating and sleeping.
